FAQs

  • Iyengar yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, health, gender, physical ability or other life circumstances, and is non competitive. You just need to find the right class for you.

  • Yoga asanas (postures) are demonstrated by the teacher, and then taught through observation and correction. Sometimes hands on adjustments are made (with permission) so that students can feel the correct position and alignment of the body . This precise alignment means that the internal systems of the body can function efficiently.

The asanas are designed to move the body in a variety of ways to bring mobility, stability and awareness. Yoga props are used to aid your understanding, support the body, promote optimum precision in the asanas and for safety. Typical props include bricks, blocks, belts and bolsters. Teachers are trained to use these props correctly.

  • Clothes that are non restrictive and allow the knee and ankle joints to be visible. Most people wear sportswear ( leggings or shorts.) yoga is practised in bare feet.
