What is Iyengar Yoga?

The Iyengar system is renowned for its use of props (which BKS Iyengar pioneered) and its careful sequencing of the poses, with emphasis on precise alignment and safety.
Teachers are trained over many years to the highest standards to maintain the Iyengar care and precision, and after qualifying, go through ongoing training and regular professional development. They commit to teaching only Iyengar yoga without mixing with other styles. In this way the purity of the teachings of BKS Iyengar and his family are maintained.
